We took some time to sit down and briefly chat with Nadaddy and Fatty, keyboardist and bassist from Atlanta Georgia’s own Family Force 5, check out the interview below the cut.
Q: Introduce yourselves and your positions in the band.
Fatty: Whaddup, I’m Fatty and I play bass in Family Force 5.
Nadaddy: I’m Nadaddy and I play keys and yep that’s what we do.
Q: Any tour plans for the near future?
Nadaddy: Blowing it up ATL swagger style since that’s where we’re from. But yeah, we’ve got a fall tour [currently] and a Christmas tour probably too. After this we’re gonna go home, chill out for a second and rack our creative brains and see what our next thing we can do is.
Q: Who are your idols musically and why?
Nadaddy: Billy Idol!
Fatty: Yeah, Billy Idol cause he can play acoustic guitar really really good and he was in The Wedding Singer. But really, The Beastie Boys and Rage Against The Machine.
Q: Craziest Tour Prank?
Fatty: Oh craziest tour prank. For us, we had a band that one of the guys was afraid of chickens. So we went and we got a chicken and we put it in his bunk in his bus and left it in there until he showed up. Classic.
Q: What was your first tour together as a band?
Nadaddy: Oh god.
Fatty: It was us and another band from Atlanta since we’re from Atlanta. We had never toured really before.
Nadaddy: Yeah, it was meant to be like a college campus kind of tour it was called the “College Rot Tour.” I’m not really sure how that’s supposed to come off as something positive to anybody, but that’s what they called it. But yeah, it was like these upstairs venues in college towns. There were a couple of kids that came out, but one it was the Friday night of like an away football game of the college that we were playing so there was nobody in town.
Fatty: But it was a fun start to say the least.
Q: Favorite pick up line?
Both: Hey! Hey you! Yous girls ova there. Get over here! (laughs)
Nadaddy: Yeah we don’t really do that, I don’t, man if you got game you don’t really need pick up lines. We don’t really need lines.
Q: I couldn’t live without ______.
Fatty: My guitar man.
