If you have yet to get into these boys from Boston, you’re definitely missing out on the next big thing. Sharing the stage with bands like All Time Low, touring all over the country, all while being unsigned might I add, Stay is slowly making their way to the top of the charts.

First introduce yourselves and what you do in the band.
Anthony:  Hey what’s going on, I’m Anthony from the band Stay….I sing.
Alex: Hi I’m Alex; I play bass and do backup vocals.
Steve: Hi, I’m Steve and I play the guitar.
Liam: I’m Liam and I play the guitar.
Dubs: Spaceweather. I play drums.

Tell a secret about each of your band members.
Liam: Tony has small eyes. I just spent at least an hour trying to put contacts in them.
Alex:  Liam smells really bad after a couple hours.
Dubs: After every show Liam smells like shit.
Liam: But I figured out a remedy! I just have to wear pajama pants in the van and not jeans.  And change my underwear frequently.
Dubs:  Steve’s addicted to the World Wide Web…absolutely addicted to the internet.  And Tony used to be in a ska band!
Liam: Alex is half black.
Alex: That’s almost true!
Dubs: Somebody just say my secret already!  I don’t know what it’s gonna be.
Alex: Dubs’ real name isn’t Dubs.
Anthony: Liam was born in the Galapagos and he runs with wolves.
Liam: But Dubs is too vocal about his entire life to have a secret!

Do you have any funny stories about high school experiences?
Liam: Well the date I took to senior prom ended up being a lesbian.  And I found out on senior prom.
Dubs: I dated this girl, her name was Molly, and Molly if you’re watching- I’m sorry, for everything [Laughs].  So we were dating for like an extended period of time and we break up and Molly and Alex were on the track team together. And Alex one day was like “Aw can I have a ride home?” She gives him a ride home and he fucking kisses her!  Him and I didn’t talk for two years, started other bands and now we’re BACK together.
Steve: Um I was a jock…and also the most popular kid in school.
Liam: I thought we were talking about factual things.
Steve: It was factual.
Anthony: In my high school I was secretly the mascot, I was a buffalo.

When you guys shower, do you face towards or away from the shower head and what do you think about?
Alex: I stand sideways!
Dubs: That is a fucking lie, you have a rainfall shower head and you HAVE to be underneath it!
BP-B: How do you know what kind of shower head he has?
Dubs: I sleep at his house very frequently! And I accompany him.
Anthony: When we shower we take group showers so we’re constantly kinda flipping.
Liam: If I told you what I thought about in the shower you wouldn’t believe me.
Dubs: I face the shower head, except when I’m rinsing the conditioner out of my hair.

You’re on PureVolume’s top unsigned list, how did you first find out about that and how do you think that’s helped your popularity?
Liam: Well PureVolume is a really popular site so when people see that on the list, they like to check out bands that are on them so I think that people who have seen that have then listened to us after.
Anthony: We’re really stoked.  We’re really thankful for PureVolume for selecting us and we’re really stoked about it.

Who are your biggest musical influences?
Liam: Ghandi.
Steve: Blink 182.  And Jimmy Eat World and Paramore and Brand New.
Dubs: I like Dave Matthews Band.
Anthony: Winston Churchill. And the Macarena.
Dubs: Envy on the Coast, The Receiving End of Sirens, Glassjaw, Third Eye Blind
Steve: So you get the picture!
Alex: Ke$ha…Lady Gaga!
Dubs: Lady Gaga all day.

Where do you see yourself in five years, musically?
Steve: If you’re discussing Stay, then we will hopefully be the next Third Eye Blind.
Anthony: Or making milkshakes professionally.
Liam: In five years I definitely want to be in a tour bus.  And if I can’t get to that point, I might think about a different career.
Steve: He’s kidding!  But seriously, I think our sound will get more mature.

If you had to kick out one member of your band who would it be?
Dubs: Probably me…I’m a pain in the ass.
Steve: That’s a terrible question, you’re gonna break up our band!
Dubs: That’s a horrible question! And if you guys don’t allow us to give a goofy answer to that then you guys are just mean people!  Wait I got a question, if you had to kick one member out of your fucking family who would it be?!

If you had to make out with one of the members of your band who would it be?
*Dubs leans over and kisses Anthony*
Steve: To answer your question, me and Liam would make out. Actually, this question is invalid because that just happened.
Anthony: Dude we better cuddle afterwards
Dubs: No dude, nothing like that is ever happening again.

What is your favorite childhood memory?
Alex: Getting my first guitar.
Steve: Buying my first yo-yo at the local hobby shop.
Alex: And getting the Blastoid card because it completed my collection!
Liam: Oh my god, my Charizard holographic!
Anthony: Getting the little Mighty Max action figures and riding my bike!
Dubs: For me it was probably getting all the stars in Mario 64.

When can fans expect new music?
Liam: ASAP!
Steve: Nah probably like April.  We’re working on some new stuff, probably recording some stuff in March.  But if you want our current music, you can download it at stayrock.com, for free!

What do you have planned for the rest of 2010?
Steve: Lots of touring with some awesome bands…You, Me and Everyone We Know, Breathe Electric and We Are the In Crowd. Other than that we’re planning a tour in May right now.  And just touring and writing new songs.
